The process has taken a while, but I'm happy to report that the Texas Film Commission has been cleared to start writing checks! On March 10, 2008, the rules for the Moving Image Industry Incentive Program Rules were formally adopted, the last step in getting to the point of making payments to our qualified applicants.
Final audits of applications are under way, and we expect to be issuing checks very soon. The money's in the bank, and we're very much looking forward to spending every dime of it to bring more business to Texas. As of early April 2008, the Texas Film Commission had received a total of 95 grant applications, representing in-state spending of $110.1 million. The breakdown: 72 commercials, representing in-state spending of $18.5M 13 film television projects, representing in-state spending of $77.0M 10 video games, representing in-state spending of $14.6M
