TXMPA celebrates a historic increase in incentives funding for the Texas Moving Image Incentive Program. The Alliance’s work over the last two years to secure significant funding of the Moving Image Incentive Program was finally realized when the Governor signed the bill on June 15.
The incentive program is now funded up to $95 million dollars over the next three years. A significant increase from the $32 million allocated in 2011.
Increased funding helps Texas effectively compete with the growing number of states with media incentives, says TXMPA President, Susan Fowler. Our work has finally paid off and we look forward to the increase in Texas jobs and income it will provide.
Since January, Texas has seen some 16 projects benefit from the Moving Image Industry Program with over $129.7 million dollars added to the Texas economy.
It is clear these incentives create money and jobs for Texas, says John Schrimpf of Panavision. We have many people to thank for this tremendous effort, including our champion Lawrence Collins. His work over the past two years has been phenomenal.
TXMPA anticipates an official celebration and recognition of its champions and industry at their annual meeting in October. Included in that recognition will be the financial support of the TXMPA members and the work of the TXMPA Board of Directors - Susan Fowler, President; John Schrimpf, Vice President; Marc Stephens, Treasurer; Robin Read, Secretary; Trish Avery, Steve Belsky, Larry Cashion, Philip Hardage, Angela McClure and Bill Schwarz.
