Texas Motion Picture Alliance
Pres Urges Supporters to Stay Tuned PDF Print E-mail
I want to take a brief moment to thank all of you that have become members of TXMPA and all of you that support our efforts. Hopefully you have all been receiving the numerous updates on our many meetings across the state. It is important that you join us at these gatherings as often as possible so we can keep you up to date on where we are headed and to be involved in the efforts of getting our message out to fellow industry members, legislators, and the public at large. While some of these messages may seem redundant to those that signed up early on, it is important for all of us to hear them in order to keep our focus. Use each e-blast that you receive as a reminder of the challenge ahead and as an opportunity to reach out to spread the word. Embrace our pleas for members and funds as a chance to find a home for that last little bit of cash left over from your stimulus checks that you’ve been wondering how to spend.

Letter from the President PDF Print E-mail

It is my honor to be the newly elected President of TXMPA.  Thanks to the leadership provided by past Presidents, Hector Garcia and Meredith Stephens, and the current and past board members of our organization we have established TXMPA as an effective advocate for the moving image industry in Texas.

I am involved in this endeavor for many reasons.  I grew up in this industry and have been working in it for most of my life.  I love what I do and I love our industry.  I’ve lived through the era when Texas earned and deserved the title of “the third coast” and I’ve struggled and survived through lean times when work destined for Texas has been pulled away by incentives offered elsewhere.  I want to see these projects return to Texas and I want to be a part of making it happen.  Simply put, I am involved because I have to be and I hope you realize in order for it to happen you have to be, too.

State Cleared to Start Writing Checks PDF Print E-mail

The process has taken a while, but I'm happy to report that the Texas Film Commission has been cleared to start writing checks!

On March 10, 2008, the rules for the Moving Image Industry Incentive Program Rules were formally adopted, the last step in getting to the point of making payments to our qualified applicants.
