The Current Incentives Program
( 1 Article )
Texas' Moving Image Industry Incentive Program offers grants equal to 5% to 15% of in-state spending, including wages paid to Texas residents. Grants are available upon project completion to feature films, documentaries, television programs, commercials and video games. Both live-action and animated projects are eligible. These grants are in addition to our existing Sales Tax Exemptions.
In addition, on most projects shot in Texas, a production company is 100% exempt from State and local sales taxes on much of what they rent or purchase. That's not a rebate; it's an up-front exemption, and the claim form is one single page. If they're here for more than 30 days, they are also exempt from a portion of occupancy tax on hotel rooms. Production companies may claim refunds for sales tax paid on fuel that was used off-road (like generators and boats).
