2013 . . . Legislature is Back in Session!
It's that time again. The 83rd Texas Legislature is in session and our TXMPA Board and lobbyists are hard at work educating new legislators on our industry and striving to secure increased funding for the incentive program.
Texas is now one of 41 states with a media incentive program. We know the importance of not only having a program, but funding the program at a level that allows us to truly compete.
Our focus is on growing media work in Texas and retaining our indigenous talent and resources.
We know our industry affects more than just media professionals. Our work provides new revenue for small businesses that otherwise would not see those dollars. That's dollars for small businesses like the local printer or lumber yard, not to mention hotels, restaurants and locations that turn into tourist destinations once the projects have wrapped!
First, know your State Representative and State Senator. Don't know who they are? Find your Legislators here: http://www.fyi.legis.state.tx.us/.
As a member of the TXMPA community, your individual voice carries real weight!
Second, contact your legislators by phone, email, or snail mail. Let your State Senator and Representative hear your story of how the Moving Image Incentive Program has benefited you, your family and your community.
Identify yourself as a local constituent first and then as a member of TXMPA. Tell your story. Nothing is more important than
your individual story and how you've benefited from the Incentive Program.
Things are always fluid during legislative sessions and we rely on the expertise of our leaders and lobbyists to point us in the right direction for action and success.
Our community is stunningly cohesive and responsive when the call goes out. Keep your ears to the ground and your eyes on your email. We'll let you know when our collective voice is needed in the Capital halls.
Meanwhile, reach out to your individual legislators and let them know you vote, you work and you care about keeping Texas competitive in this industry.
Your voice matters!
