Letter from the President |
Life as part of TXMPA is getting very exciting. We have our two companion bills filed. Lobby Day was a great success. However, it is vital that we continue to get our message out that our program is about retaining existing jobs and bringing new jobs to Texas.
We must make sure that we provide a consistent message to the legislators that detail the benefits our industry brings to the State. Leaders in the House and Senate are calling for spending reductions from all agencies and there is a possibility that bills with a cost to taxpayers will not even advance to be heard by committees. How our bills will be perceived on a cost/benefit basis is vital to their passage.
We are currently crafting specific talking points for our legislation. These talking points will keep our message consistent and avoid confusion for legislators. We will have a document of these points ready for all industry members to utilize very shortly. We will send out an e-blast with the talking points as soon as the document is ready. Again consistency of our message is key.
We are approaching a critical point in the life of our legislation. We need everyone prepared to help. Spread the word about House Bill 873 and Senate Bill 605 and watch for more information coming soon.
